Adobe Hires Proximity Lab to Build "Postcards" Application for Kids
December 12, 2008- Adobe has turned to Proximity Lab once again to develop a showcase application and user experience using Adobe technology. Postcards is an AIR application that allows kids to create photo collages. Kids can add stickers, unique photo frames, text, drawings and other effects and then animate, share and print their creations. Animated versions of the photo collages can even be set to music.
Adobe approached Proximity Lab last year to propose an AIR-based application for kids to demonstrate key features Adobe wanted to promote. Proximity Lab proposed several ideas, including a photo collage and mark-up tool that could be presented in both printed and animated forms. The Proximity Lab team proceeded to develop feature specifications, technical architecture and design concepts and was responsible for all development and implementation of the final product.
Postcards was originally planned as a showcase AIR application to be published on Adobe Labs. However, senior management at Adobe were so impressed by the final product that Adobe is currently exploring other avenues for the application.
Adobe has also invited the Proximity Lab team to return Adobe MAX conference this year to present our work on Postcards. We will present on October 7, 2009 at 3:30 PM. The session is titled "Lessons Learned from Building an Online Photo Scrapbooking Application with Adobe AIR."
